Oh, won’t you come with me
And walk this land
“Wait just a cotton-pickin’ minute,” you’re probably saying to this at this very moment. “2 or 3 lines featured ‘In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida’ on july 31 – just a few days ago. Why another post about the same song?”
The July 31 2 or 3 lines announced that the single version of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” had been included in the 2020 class of the 2 OR 3 LINES “GOLDEN DECADE” HIT SINGLES HALL OF FAME.
Which is a very different thing.

“Hold your horses, dude,” I hear you saying. “In the July 28 2 or 3 lines, you said that the rules didn’t allow the album version of a hall of fame hit single to be included in the album tracks hall of fame. Isn’t that exactly what you are doing right now?”
You bet your *ss it is. (What are you going to do about it? Rat me out to the teacher like a little tattletale b*tch? Cancel your subscription WHICH IS FREE?)
Here are a couple of things to remember:
1. “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” (I hate to play that tired old Ralph Waldo Emerson card, but you started it.)

2. My blog, my rules.
3. Sometimes a fella just needs to phone one in. (Especially when that fella went on vacation for a month and didn’t take his computer with him.)

I said just about everything I had to say about “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” in the July 31 2 or 3 lines. (If you missed that post, just click here to view it.)
Suffice it to say that the album version of the song is just over 17 minutes long. (I wouldn’t mind if it was 117 minutes long.) It occupies the entire second side of the Iron Butterfly album of the same name, and its lyrics utilize only 31 different words.
You never listened to this side, did you? |
