Bad Company – "Feel Like Makin' Love" (1975)

If I had those golden dreams of my yesterday

I would wrap you in the heaven

But they lay dying on the way

It’s almost September, and you know what that means!

Wait . . . you don’t know what that means?  (Really?)

It means that it’s almost time for me to introduce the newest members of the 2 OR 3 LINES “GOLDEN DECADE” HIT SINGLES HALL OF FAME!

And after September comes October, when I’ll announce the newest members of the 2 OR 3 LINES “GOLDEN DECADE” ALBUM TRACKS HALL OF FAME!

I’ve written over 2000 posts for 2 or 3 lines since 2009.  You may find this hard to believe, but today’s post is the first one that was written while I was asleep.

Last night, I had a dream about today’s featured recording.  (I doubt that “Feel Like Makin’ Love” was the primary subject of that dream, so I’m not sure it’s accurate to say that the dream was “about” that song.  But I don’t remember a single other detail of the dream.)

The dream was doubly odd because I remember making a very 2 or 3 lines-like comment about “Feel Like Makin’ Love” – something to the effect that the record was a one-trick pony, and that one trick was Mick Ralphs’ guitar riff in the song’s chorus.

The other thing about “Feel Like Makin’ Love” that stands out is its has truly godawful lyrics.  (The lyrics quoted at the beginning of this post sounds like they were generated by an AI bot programmed by sixth graders – and not particularly bright sixth graders.)

It’s certainly not the band’s best song – that’s “Bad Company,” which is the only track I know that shares its name with both the group that recorded it nd the album it was released on.  And it’s not the band’s second-best song – that’s “Can’t Get Enough.”
