Lady Gaga (ft. Beyoncé) – "Telephone" (2009)

Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna talk anymore

It’s SuperBowl Sunday, so 2 or 3 lines is featuring a song by Lady Gaga – who will headline the SuperBowl halftime show later today.

As you probably already know, 2 or 3 lines has an uncanny gift for picking one of the songs that will be performed in the halftime show.

Last year, we featured “Viva la Vida,” which we had a feeling Coldplay would perform at the SuperBowl L halftime show.  (That’s SuperBowl 50 for those of you who never learned your Roman numerals.)

The year before, we said Katy Perry’s SuperBowl XLIX playlist would include “E.T.”

And the year before that, it was our prediction that Bruno Mars would perform “Just the Way You Are” at the SuperBowl XLVIII halftime show.

Nailed it, nailed it, NAILED IT!

(Yes, I did.)
This year, I could play it safe and predict that Lady Gaga will include “Bad Romance” or “Poker Face” in her halftime medley.

But 2 or 3 lines has never been about playing it safe.  So I’m going with “Telephone” – which happens to be my favorite Lady Gaga song.

Why is “Telephone” a risky choice?  Because it prominently features Beyoncé, and I wouldn't think Gaga would perform it unless Beyoncé joined in.

But Mrs. Carter was the halftime headliner for SuperBowl XLVII, and had a prominent role as a guest performer in the SuperBowl L show.  You wouldn’t expect her to appear again at SuperBowl LI – especially given that her SuperBowl L was widely criticized as being anti-police.

Nice chapeau!
Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that Beyoncé will join Lady Gaga at today for a show-stopping performance of “Telephone.”

Of course, no matter how over the top the staging of the Super Bowl LI halftime show may be, it won’t come close to the nine-and-a-half-minute-long “Telephone” music video, product-placement-crammed work that looks like something Quentin Tarantino might have produced if he took LSD after having a sex-change operation:

You can click here to read an article from the Atlantic that deconstructs the “Telephone” video.

I'm not including the usual link for you to use to buy “Telephone” from Amazon because Lady Gaga already has too much money.
